Kava Equity Partners is the direct private equity investment arm of the Southern Ute Indian Tribe Growth Fund, which itself is the business arm of the Southern Ute Indian Tribe. POSITION SUMMARY

The Controller is responsible for managing the financial reporting, accounting, budgeting, and forecasting functions of Kava Equity Partners. This position reports to the Managing Director and will collaborate with the Growth Fund’s Finance & Accounting department and as well as portfolio company CFOs and management teams. Responsibilities include preparation of Kava Equity Partners financial statements, budgets, and forecasts; maintenance of internal controls and procedures; management of third-party audits and state tax returns; and supervision of accounting personnel. Additional duties will include active participation in investment due diligence and oversight of the post-close integration and reporting of portfolio companies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, mathematics, economics or related field and 7 years direct experience in accounting or finance OR Master’s degree in business administration, accounting, or finance and 5 years direct experience in accounting or finance is required.

  2. Experience managing accounting or finance functions, including budgeting and forecasting.

  3. Experience independently leading monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes including posting activity to the general ledger, reconciling accounts, and preparing financial statements.

  4. Experience in auditing or preparing audited financial statements including footnotes.

  5. Experience designing and implementing internal controls and maintaining supporting documentation.

  6. Advanced skills performing financial analysis in Microsoft Excel.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. CPA or CMA certification.

  2. Public accounting experience.

  3. Private equity fund experience.

  4. M&A transaction experience.
